Terms of Service
Last updated 26 July 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Splice ("Splice", "we", "us"). By creating a splice, joining one, or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Splice.
1. What Splice does
Splice helps a group divide shared expenses and settle them. One person (the organizer) records an expense they paid for and invites others (members) with a join code. Splice calculates each person's share and charges it to their payment method, then pays the organizer.
In plain terms
Splice is not a bank. Payments are processed through Stripe, a licensed payment services provider: your share is collected through Stripe into Splice's own Stripe account and paid out to the organizer through Stripe, solely to complete your split. Splice does not use that money for anything else, and does not extend credit or hold funds beyond what's needed to complete that payment. We are not a party to the underlying agreement between you and the people you are splitting costs with.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts. Organizers must complete Stripe's identity verification before they can receive money.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@splice.cash if you think someone else has access.
4. Authorizing charges
By joining a splice you agree that:
- Your payment method may be charged for your share of the expenses in that splice, including recurring shares if it is a Splice Circle you have opted into.
- You will be notified before a charge is attempted, and there is a pause window during which you can hold it.
- You may set a personal limit. Charges above your limit are paused automatically until you raise the limit or approve them.
- You may pause a splice at any time before a charge is executed. Pausing holds the charge for the whole group. The organizer may choose to continue without you, in which case your share stays unpaid.
- Amounts shown before a charge are estimates until the charge is executed, because organizers can add or edit expenses up to that point.
5. Fees
Splice charges a service fee of 1% of the transaction, with a minimum of 5 cents. Payment processing fees are set by Stripe: currently 2.9% plus 30 cents for cards, and 0.8% capped at $5 for bank debits. Fees are shown in your breakdown before you are charged.
6. Organizer responsibilities
If you organize a splice, you are responsible for the accuracy of the expenses you enter and for only inviting people who have agreed to share the cost. You may not use Splice to collect money for anything you have not actually paid for, or to charge people who have not agreed to the split. You must not enter someone else's phone number without their permission.
7. Refunds and disputes
Disagreements about what was owed are between you and the other members of your group. Splice can assist with the mechanics of a refund but does not arbitrate who owed what. If a charge on your statement is wrong, contact us first at support@splice.cash and we will try to resolve it before you file a dispute with your bank.
8. Text messages
If you provide your mobile number and tick the consent box, you agree to receive account and transaction text messages from Splice at that number. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, START to opt back in, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchase. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Splice for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive.
- Collect payments for goods or services in a way that would make you a merchant, rather than splitting a shared cost.
- Attempt to break, probe, or overload the service.
- Send unsolicited messages to anyone through Splice.
We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.
10. Availability
We aim to keep Splice running but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change. Scheduled charges depend on systems outside our control, including Stripe and your bank.
11. Disclaimers and liability
Splice is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid Splice in the preceding twelve months or $100. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Splice after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law rules.
